Glencore Agriculture joins UN Global Compact

Glencore Agriculture is pleased to announce it has become a participant of the United Nations Global Compact.

The initiative was created to generate a global movement towards sustainable development; calling for companies to align their operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

With over 9,000 businesses in 135 countries, the UN Global Compact is the world's largest corporate responsibility initiative.

As a member, Glencore Agriculture pledges to:

  • implement changes to business operations and strategy, incorporating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, including in subsidiaries and the supply chain;
  • support the UN Global Compact and the Ten Principles via available communications channels;
  • inform stakeholders annually of its efforts to implement the UN Global Principles, and post this Communication on Progress (COP) on the UN Global Compact website.

Glencore Agriculture CEO Chris Mahoney said "We are committed to making the UN Global Compact and it's principles part of the strategy, culture and day-to-day operations of our company, and to engage in collaborative projects which advance the broader development goals of the United Nations."

Glencore Agriculture is a market leader in originating, handling, processing and marketing of agricultural commodities including grain, oilseeds, pulses, sugar, rice, cotton, vegetable oils, protein meals and biodiesel.
