Acquisition of Unialco sugar mill completed

Glencore Agriculture Ltd (Glencore Agriculture or the Company) announces that it has completed the acquisition of the industrial and agricultural assets (other than farm land) of Unialco sugar mill (“Unialco Mill”), located in the municipality of Guararapes, in the State of São Paulo, Brazil.

Strategically located in a traditional sugarcane growing region of Centre South Brazil, Unialco will complement Glencore Agriculture’s existing sugar operations in the country, allowing for operating and marketing synergies between the assets.

Unialco has a nominal crushing capacity of 2.5 mio mt per annum and is capable of producing over 200,000 mt of sugar and up to 80,000 cbm of ethanol per annum. This will add to the 3.3 mio mt per annum crushing capacity at the Rio Vermelho sugar mill and up to 340,000 mt of sugar, 100,000 cbm of ethanol and 250,000 MWh of surplus electricity exported to the local grid.
